Laboratories can have an unusual mix of both toxic and combustible gases.

Combustibles are typically from stored gases and chemicals such as methane, benzene, hexanes, etc. Toxic gases may be a result of these stored sources, in addition to the processes that involve chemical reactions or burning. Inert gases such as nitrogen are common in labs and may require oxygen depletion sensors rather than targeted sensors.
