Methane gas is a typical gas that is naturally generated in landfills. The methane may be used at site for cogeneration systems or exhausted to atmosphere. Monitoring for LEL levels of methane gas in normally clean air areas can done with our Hazardous Location Combustible transmitters.

Typical alarm setpoints are 10% and 20% of the LEL for Methane, which is 5% by volume. Methane is a lighter density than air and the sensors should be mounted high in buildings and scale areas where the gas can accumulate.
